Description
A delicious and healthy vegan alternative to traditional orange chicken, made with tofu and a zesty orange sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and cut it into cubes.
- In a bowl, mix orange juice, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
- In a separate bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the tofu cubes, cooking until golden brown on all sides.
- Pour the orange sauce over the tofu and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can bake the tofu instead of pan-frying.
- Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less maple syrup.
- Serve with steamed rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
