Description

A delicious and healthy vegan alternative to traditional orange chicken, made with tofu and a zesty orange sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and cut it into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix orange juice, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the tofu cubes, cooking until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Pour the orange sauce over the tofu and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with green onions.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can bake the tofu instead of pan-frying.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less maple syrup.
  • Serve with steamed rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
