- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for toasting buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard
Instructions
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form loose balls.
- Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
- Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional minute until the cheese melts.
- Meanwhile, butter the burger buns and toast them on the skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding your favorite toppings.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or smoked paprika to the beef.
