Description

A warm and comforting sweet potato casserole made with canned yams, perfect for family gatherings and holiday celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans of yams (15 oz each), drained
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mash the drained yams until smooth.
  3. Add brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the mashed yams and mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  5. Top with mini marshmallows evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a crunchier topping, consider adding crushed pecans or walnuts on top of the marshmallows.
  • This dish can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
