Spider Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are a delightful fall treat that combines rich chocolate flavor with a fun spider design, perfect for Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
  • Chocolate chips (for spider eyes)
  • Black licorice (for spider legs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  6. Once chilled, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  7. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  10. Let the cookies cool slightly, then use chocolate chips and black licorice to create spider designs on top.

Notes

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • These cookies can be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
