- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (optional)
- Condiments of choice (ketchup, mustard, etc.)
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion for toppings
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
- Form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it too much.
- Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy.
- Flip the burgers and add cheese if desired, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
- Toast the burger buns on the skillet for a minute.
- Assemble the burgers with your choice of condiments and toppings.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

- For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or onion powder to the beef.
- Use a cast-iron skillet for the best sear.
