Description

Delicious homemade smash burgers with a crispy exterior and juicy interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form loose balls.
  3. Add vegetable oil to the skillet.
  4. Place the beef balls on the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
  7. Add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  8. Toast the burger buns on the skillet for a minute.
  9. Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, use beef with a higher fat content for juicier burgers.
  • Do not overwork the meat when forming the balls.
  • Experiment with different cheeses and toppings to customize your burger.
