Description

A simple and delicious recipe for making apple butter in a slow cooker, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups of peeled and chopped apples
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling and chopping them into small pieces.
  2. Place the chopped apples in the slow cooker.
  3. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and lemon juice to the apples.
  4. Stir the mixture until the apples are well coated with the spices and sugar.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until the apples are soft.
  6. Once cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
  7. Cook uncovered for an additional 1-2 hours to thicken the apple butter to your desired consistency.
  8. Transfer the apple butter to sterilized jars and let it cool before sealing.
