- 6 cups of peeled and chopped apples
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the apples by peeling and chopping them into small pieces.
- Place the chopped apples in the slow cooker.
- Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and lemon juice to the apples.
- Stir the mixture until the apples are well coated with the spices and sugar.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until the apples are soft.
- Once cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
- Cook uncovered for an additional 1-2 hours to thicken the apple butter to your desired consistency.
- Transfer the apple butter to sterilized jars and let it cool before sealing.
Notes
- Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of the apples used.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
- This recipe can be doubled if you have a larger slow cooker.
