Description

A delicious twist on the classic Reuben sandwich, these Reuben Balls are crispy on the outside and filled with corned beef, sauerkraut, and cheese, served with a spicy Thousand Island dipping sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup corned beef, chopped
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, green onions, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix until well combined and form into small balls.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat.
  4. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. For the dipping sauce, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, and relish in a small bowl.
  7. Serve the Reuben Balls hot with the spicy Thousand Island dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the Reuben Balls in the oven at 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
  • Adjust the spiciness of the dipping sauce by adding more or less hot sauce.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying.
