Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Add the pumpkin puree and sourdough starter to the dry ingredients.
  3. Gradually mix in the water until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  8. Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan and let it rise for another hour.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  10. Let cool before slicing.
