A fun and spooky twist on classic mac and cheese, served in jack-o’-lantern bowls for Halloween.
Ingredients

- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 4 small orange bell peppers
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted.
- Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Cut the tops off the orange bell peppers and remove seeds to create bowls.
- Fill each bell pepper with the mac and cheese mixture.
- Use a knife to carve jack-o’-lantern faces on the outside of the peppers.
- Serve warm and enjoy your spooky treat!
Notes
- For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the cheese sauce.
- These can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
- Feel free to use different types of cheese for varied flavors.
