- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and warm water.
- Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest for 12-18 hours at room temperature.
- Preheat your oven to 450ยฐF (230ยฐC) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place the dough inside.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a crustier bread, use a cast iron pot with a lid.
- Experiment with adding herbs or spices for extra flavor.
- Store leftover bread in a paper bag to maintain crustiness.
