- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Slice the bread into thick slices and arrange them in the baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the pumpkin mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well soaked.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
- Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar, if desired.
Notes
- For a sweeter version, add more brown sugar or maple syrup to the mixture.
- This recipe can be made vegan by substituting eggs and milk with plant-based alternatives.
