- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- White fondant for decoration
- Black food coloring
- Buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the cakes with buttercream frosting and stack them.
- Cover the cake with white fondant and use black food coloring to create Jack Skellington’s face.

- Ensure the cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
- Use a sharp knife to trim the tops of the cakes for a flat surface.
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider adding chocolate chips to the batter.
