- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- Green and red food coloring
- 1 cup white frosting
- Chocolate chips for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Add green food coloring to one bowl and red to the other, mixing until the desired colors are achieved.
- Fill the cupcake liners with alternating spoonfuls of the green and red batter to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- Frost the cupcakes with white frosting and decorate with chocolate chips to resemble eyeballs.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, consider adding a splash of almond extract.
- These cupcakes can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
