Description

Delightful and spooky ghost-shaped meringues that are gluten-free and perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Chocolate chips (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
  5. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  6. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  7. Pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave space between each one.
  8. Press chocolate chips into the meringues for eyes.
  9. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and can be easily lifted off the parchment.
  10. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside the oven.
