- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon black food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and black food coloring until well combined.
- Using a piping bag, pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and can easily lift off the parchment.
- Let them cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Ensure no yolk gets into the egg whites for best results.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
