Description

Delicious meatballs infused with the rich flavors of French onion soup, served with a savory onion sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, half of the chopped onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the remaining chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add the meatballs to the skillet and brown on all sides.
  6. Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over them.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
  8. Serve hot with the savory onion sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce.
  • These meatballs can be served with pasta or on a sub roll for a meatball sandwich.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
