Description

Deliciously rich and chewy double chocolate chip sourdough bagels that are perfect for breakfast or a snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for boiling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and warm water, and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Incorporate the chocolate chips into the dough.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape them into bagels.
  8. Boil water in a large pot and add honey.
  9. Boil each bagel for about 1 minute on each side.
  10. Place the boiled bagels on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
  • These bagels can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to add nuts or dried fruit for extra texture.
