- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon honey (for boiling)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the sourdough starter and warm water, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Incorporate the chocolate chips into the dough.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape them into bagels.
- Boil water in a large pot and add honey.
- Boil each bagel for about 1 minute on each side.
- Place the boiled bagels on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
- These bagels can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Feel free to add nuts or dried fruit for extra texture.
