- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- Chocolate candies for spider bodies
- Licorice strings for spider legs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Once cooled, frost each cupcake with chocolate frosting.
- To create the spider, place a chocolate candy in the center of the frosted cupcake and use licorice strings to create legs.
- Serve and enjoy your spooky treats!
Notes
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider using dark cocoa powder.
