- 2 2/3 cups shredded coconut
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine shredded coconut, sugar, flour, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg whites and vanilla extract until frothy.
- Pour the egg mixture into the coconut mixture and stir until well combined.
- Using a cookie scoop or your hands, form small mounds of the mixture and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- If using chocolate chips, melt them and drizzle over the cooled macaroons.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- For a chewier texture, do not overbake.
- These macaroons can be dipped in chocolate for added flavor.
