Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture; mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon on top.
  6. Cut the dough into strips and twist them into knots.
  7. Place knots on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. For the icing, mix powdered sugar, brewed coffee, and milk until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the coffee icing over the warm cinnamon knots before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon to your taste.
  • These knots can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
