- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup cooked ham, diced
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Add shredded chicken, diced ham, and thyme. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and Swiss cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
Notes
- For a thicker soup, add more flour to the roux.
- Can substitute chicken with turkey for a different flavor.
- Garnish with additional cheese or croutons if desired.
