California Roll Sushi Bowls are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines the flavors of traditional sushi in a convenient bowl format.

- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1/2 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 4 sheets nori, cut into strips
- Soy sauce, for serving
- Wasabi and pickled ginger, for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Stir this mixture into the cooked rice and let it cool.
- In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice, followed by avocado, cucumber, and imitation crab meat.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and nori strips on top.
- Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
- For a spicy kick, add sriracha or spicy mayo.
- This dish can be made ahead of time; just keep the ingredients separate until serving.
