Description

California Roll Sushi Bowls are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines the flavors of traditional sushi in a convenient bowl format.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1/2 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 4 sheets nori, cut into strips
  • Soy sauce, for serving
  • Wasabi and pickled ginger, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Stir this mixture into the cooked rice and let it cool.
  4. In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice, followed by avocado, cucumber, and imitation crab meat.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds and nori strips on top.
  6. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
  • For a spicy kick, add sriracha or spicy mayo.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time; just keep the ingredients separate until serving.
