Butter Chicken is a rich and creamy dish made with marinated chicken cooked in a spiced tomato sauce, perfect for serving with naan or rice.

- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and spices for at least 1 hour.
- In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomato puree and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Reduce heat and add heavy cream, stirring until well combined.
- Season with salt and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add chili powder to the marinade.
- Serve with naan or basmati rice for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
