Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and browned butter. Mix well.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Mix in the sourdough starter until smooth.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  8. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
  9. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
