Description

These Bloody Halloween Cupcakes are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Red food coloring
  • 1 cup buttercream frosting
  • Chocolate syrup for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in red food coloring until you achieve the desired ‘bloody’ color.
  5. Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with the batter.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  8. Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with buttercream frosting and drizzle chocolate syrup on top to create a bloody effect.

Notes

  • For a more intense color, add more red food coloring.
  • These cupcakes can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
  • Feel free to use store-bought frosting to save time.
