These Bloody Halloween Cupcakes are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween celebrations.

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Red food coloring
- 1 cup buttercream frosting
- Chocolate syrup for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Stir in red food coloring until you achieve the desired ‘bloody’ color.
- Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with the batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with buttercream frosting and drizzle chocolate syrup on top to create a bloody effect.
Notes
- For a more intense color, add more red food coloring.
- These cupcakes can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
- Feel free to use store-bought frosting to save time.
