Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Divide the meringue into two bowls and add red food coloring to one and blue to the other.
- Using a piping bag, pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in festive shapes.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until the meringues are dry and crisp.
- Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside.
Notes
- Ensure no yolk gets into the egg whites for best results.
