Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (red and blue)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract.
  6. Divide the meringue into two bowls and add red food coloring to one and blue to the other.
  7. Using a piping bag, pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in festive shapes.
  8. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until the meringues are dry and crisp.
  9. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside.

Notes

  • Ensure no yolk gets into the egg whites for best results.
  • Store meringues in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • Feel free to add sprinkles for extra decoration.
